G Anthony Hylton CD, MP

Political career: He serves as MP for Western St. Andrew (1993-present) and is currently Leader of Opposition Business in the House as well as Shadow Minister of Industry, Investment and Global Logistics. He has served as Deputy Chairman of the People’s National Party. He served in the Simpson-Miller administration as Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce (2012-2016). He was Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade and in the Patterson administration (1993-2001 and 2006-7), as well as Minister of Mining and Energy (2001-2002). Mr. Hylton is also a Former Executive Director of Legal and Foreign Affairs in the Policy Review Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister (1990-1993). MP Hylton currently serves on the following Parliamentary Committees:

  • Regulations
  • Economy and Production

Profession: Lawyer (former managing partner in HyltonBrown), Chairman of the Institute of Law and Economics. Previously employed as Trade Administrator, Trade Board; Legal Officer, Jamaica Commodity Trading Company and Executive Director of the Fair Trading Commission.

Education: He is a graduate of University of London, LLM (1985-1986) London Institute of World Affairs, Diploma in Air and Space Law Georgetown University, Washington DC, JD (1980-1983) Morgan State University, Baltimore MD, B.Sc. (1975-1979) Kingston College.
