Auditor General's Findings

The Auditor General’s Department’s 2019-2020 Annual Report commended the Accountant General’s Department for strides it had made in the timely preparation of bank reconciliation statements. Notwithstanding this improvement there remained concerns, specifically, “that the bank reconciliation statements contained uncleared reconciling items totalling $138.85 million. This represents net debits of $109.69 million and possible financial loss if the bank fails to make the necessary adjustments.”

The report also noted that the AcGD, “recognizes the weaknesses and is committed to clearing the reconciling items through the commissioning of a project.”
